- Task 1: The maps below show the changes in an Art Centre from 2010 to today
- To relocate (v): di dời => relocation (of) (n): việc di dời
- To construct (v) => construction (of) (n): việc xây dựng
- To demolish = Destroy = Destruct (v): phá dỡ, hủy bỏ
- Demolition (of) (n): việc phá bỏ
- To grow in width = enlarge (v): mở rộng
- To shrink (v): thu hẹp lại
- To remain unchanged (v): không thay đổi
- To make way for: nhường chỗ cho
- TASK 2 : In the future, there will be a higher proportion of older people than young people in many countries. Is it a positive or negative development?
In the future, there will be a higher proportion of older people than young people in many countries. Is it a positive or negative development?
Positive aspect:
● Having a greater proportion of elderly people => A greater pool of volunteers for community and government projects
(Nhiều người già sẽ đóng góp nhiều nhân lực miễn phí trong các dự án tình nguyện hơn.)
A low birthrate is equivalent to having fewer children => Reaching a low dependency ratio as well as creating a good condition for childcare and education
(Tỷ lệ sinh thấp đồng nghĩa với việc có ít trẻ em hơn, vậy có thể đạt tỷ lệ phụ thuộc ở mức thấp cũng như tạo điều kiện tốt để tập trung vào chăm sóc và giáo dục trẻ em)
Fewer young workers cause the shortage of labor workforce => The labor market will be seriously damaged, moreover, it may negatively affect the nation’s economy.
(Số lao động trẻ quá ít dẫn đến sự thiếu hụt lực lượng lao động => Thị trường lao động do đó sẽ có khả năng bị ảnh hưởng nghiêm trọng, hơn thế nữa còn tác động tiêu cực đến nền kinh tế quốc gia)

- TASK 1: The chart below shows the percentage of the population in the UK who consumed the recommended daily amount of fruit and vegetables in 2002, 2006, and 2010.
- To consume = expend (v): tiêu thụ
- The utilization of fruits and vegetables (n): sự tiêu thụ, sử dụng trái cây và rau củ
- To reach peak = reach highest point (v): đạt đỉnh, đạt mức cao nhất
- In term of = regarding (adv): về mặt, xét về
- The consumption = intake of (n): lượng tiêu thụ
- TASK 2: Young people today mostly learn by reading books or watching movies, rather than real-life experiences. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Learn by reading books or watching movies
● Book is definitely an important and common part in teaching and learning => Reading book is considered as one of the most familiar studying methods which can cultivate learners’ imaginativeness.
(Sách chắc hẳn là một phần quan trọng và phổ biến trong dạy và học, vì đọc sách chính được xem là một trong những phương pháp học vô cùng quen thuộc, cũng như giúp trau dồi trí tưởng tượng của người học)
Real-life experiences
●Getting practical opportunities through experiencing actual conditions enables students to take what they have learned off the page and put it into practice => bring in-depth lesson and knowledge.
(Có những cơ hội thực tiễn thông qua trải nghiệm và va chạm với các tình huống ngoài đời thực, từ đó mang lại những bài học cũng như kiến thức sâu sắc)
● Movies broaden the learning horizon and introduce various alternative learning methods => Movies may entertain learners through a vast assortment of educational videos, or it might provoke additional thought processes.
(Phim ảnh giúp người học mở rộng bầu trời tri thức và tiếp cận được các phương pháp học thay thế đa dạng => Phim có thể giúp người học giải trí thông qua nhiều loại video giáo dục hoặc có thể kích thích các quá trình suy nghĩ bổ sung)
●Improve other skills which book/media can not provide such as communication or interaction skills for learners.

- TASK 1: The line graph shows the global demand for different textile fibres between 1980 and 2015.
- ● To see/witness/experience a significant/remarkable growth/increase/soar: trải qua sự tăng trưởng lớn
● Decline = drop = decrease (v): giảm
● Fluctuation = vacillation (n): sự dao động
● Gradually = slightly (adv): chậm chậm
● Globally = over the globe (adv): toàn cầu
● Demand of different textile = total textile demand (n): tổng nhu cầu hàng dệt may
- TASK 2: Although there is a lot of translation software available, learning a language could still be advantageous. To what extend do you agree or disagree?
Agree
On the one hand, there are many benefits of using translation tools (Một mặt, có rất nhiều lợi ích của việc sử dụng máy móc hơn là học ngôn ngữ)
● There is no need for hiring an interpreter => cost-saving
(Không cần phải thuê thông dịch viên > tiết kiệm chi phí)
Disagree
On the other hand, learning a language would bring many merits for inner brain function and practical life. (Mặt khác, việc học một ngôn ngữ có thể đem lại rất nhiều lợi ích cho não bộ và cuộc sống thực tế)
● Inner brain function:
➔ Advances cognitive skills, promotes memory capacity, enhances perseverance
(Bồi dưỡng, nâng cao những kĩ năng nhận thức , thúc đẩy khả năng ghi nhớ, sự kiên trì…)
● Tools are established in various languages => convenient for communicating with different people.
(Những phần mềm dịch được cài đặt rất nhiều ngôn ngữ => tiện ích trong giao tiếp với nhiều người khác nhau)
● Practical life:
➔ Verbal communication skills and self-assurance → career prospects of the multilingual could be promoted
(Rèn luyện kỹ năng mềm và sự tự tin → mang lại cơ hội làm việc tốt hơn)
➔ Active in every situations without access to the Internet or translation tools
(Luôn chủ động khi không có kết nối Internet và thiết bị dịch thuật)

- TASK 1: The line graph shows the amount of fruit produced in four countries (France, Spain, Germany, Turkey) from 1970 to 2010.
- fruit production (n): sự sản xuất trái cây
- the amount of + Uncountable noun + V (singular): Lượng (danh từ không đếm được)
- remain/stay stable = remain/stay = unchanged = stabilize (v): ổn định, không thay đổi
- TASK 2: Parents should get punishment in some ways if their children break the law. To what extent do you agree or disagree.
Agree
Parents are ideal models for children => They take responsibility over their children’s misbehaviors (Cha mẹ là hình mẫu thực tế cho con cái => Họ phải có trách nhiệm với những hành động sai trái của con mình)
Disagree
Actually, it is improper to only inflict punishment on parents when their offspring break the law (Chỉ trừng phạt cha mẹ khi con cái của họ vi phạm pháp luật là chưa thực sự hợp lý)
➔ Children should be educated by equipping minors with moral values => to make them aware of what is encouraged to be done or not (Trẻ em nên được giáo dục bằng cách trang bị các giá trị đạo đức => nhận ra việc gì nên hoặc không nên làm)
➔ The root cause of the problem is that children do not receive sufficient moral education from parents / some parents fail to fulfill their responsibility (Nguyên nhân gốc rễ của vấn đề là trẻ em không được tiếp nhận đầy đủ bài học đạo đức từ cha mẹ => chúng không phân biệt được điều đúng, điều sai)
➔ Every parents always tries to do their best for bringing up a child and children’s behaviors are influenced by not only parents but also other factors (Cha mẹ nào cũng luôn cố gắng làm hết sức mình để nuôi dạy con cái và cách ứng xử của con cái không chỉ chịu ảnh hưởng bởi cha mẹ mà còn do các yếu tố khác)
➔ Each individuals should have responsibility for their own actions (Mỗi cá nhân phải tự chịu trách nhiệm với hành động của mình)
